Davis Moves on to Challenge Hedlund

Genevieve Davis of Norwell was victorious on Thursday, defeating Steve May of Hull in the State Senate Primary.

Norwell’s Genevieve Davis will appear on November’s  State Senate ballot with the hopes of unseating incumbent Robert Hedlund.

Davis defeated Steve May of Hull in Thursday’s Democratic State Primary, according to WATD. She took 73 percent of the vote compared to May who only received  27 percent of the vote.

"I ran a campaign that stuck to the facts," Davis said. "I'm very grateful for all the support."

In Hingham, Davis received 544 votes (61 percent) compared to May who received 227 votes (25 percent).

Davis says she thinks she can beat Hedlund and feels he's been in office too long.

"He's been too comfortable... it's time for him to move on," she said.

Davis is a financial consultant who has over three decades of professional experience in the non-profit arena where she has devoted her energies to solving problems related to the needs of families and communities.

As a state senator,  Davis said she plans to increase employment opportunities for the residents of this district and the state.

Hedlund is a nine-term incumbent senator.

The Plymouth Norfolk District  includes Weymouth, Cohasset, Duxbury, Hingham, Hull, Marshfield, Norwell and Scituate.
