Dharma Dreams Vocational Center

Dharma Dreams Vocational Center is a nonprofit vocational and life skills program based in Hanover, Massachusetts, serving young adults ages 18–26 with moderate cognitive disabilities. Our mission is to help students build practical job skills in the trades, confidence, independence, emotional regulation, and workplace readiness through hands-on vocational training and supportive learning experiences. The program was created in response to the growing need for meaningful transition opportunities for young adults as they move beyond high school and into adulthood. Many families struggle to find programs that combine practical workforce preparation, life skills development, communication skills, confidence-building, and supportive real-world learning experiences. Dharma Dreams offers hands-on exposure to vocational areas such as landscaping and grounds maintenance, painting and surface preparation, workplace professionalism, entrepreneurship basics, and life skills training. Students also learn mind-body techniques that support focus, confidence, emotional regulation, stress management, and workplace success. Our introductory summer program, launching at the end of July, is designed to help students and families become familiar with the program and explore vocational interests before participating in longer-term programming. Long-term programming focuses on helping students develop greater independence, workplace readiness, responsibility, confidence, and practical trade skills through structured, hands-on learning experiences. Dharma Dreams Vocational Center aims to create supportive pathways toward greater independence, meaningful employment opportunities, and a stronger sense of purpose while helping young adults feel valued, capable, and connected to their future potential.

Norwell's Genevieve Davis will appear on November's  State Senate ballot with the hopes of unseating incumbent Robert Hedlund. Davis defeated Steve May of Hull in Thursday's Democratic State Primary, according to WATD. She took 73 percent of the vote compared to May who only received  27 percent of the vote. "I ran a campaign that stuck to the facts," Davis said. "I'm very grateful for all the support." In Hingham, Davis received 544 votes (61 percent) compared to May who received 227 votes (25 percent). Davis says she thinks she can beat Hedlund and feels he's been in office too long. "He's been too comfortable... it's time for him to move on," she said. Davis is a financial consultant who has over three decades of professional experience in the non-profit arena where she has devoted her energies to solving problems related to the needs of families and communities. As a state senator,  Davis said she plans to increase employment opportunities for the residents of this district and the state. Hedlund is a nine-term incumbent senator. The Plymouth Norfolk District  includes Weymouth, Cohasset, Duxbury, Hingham, Hull, Marshfield, Norwell and Scituate.
