November 5 marked an exciting date in Derby Academy field hockey history. The 2011 Varsity Girls' Field Hockey team played in the Barber Sports Tournament for the first time and brought home the tournament trophy. The tournament, played at the Pine Point School in Stonington, CT, began with a 3-0 win for Derby against East Greenwich, followed by a tie during their second game (1-1) against Pine Point. Their third game, against Pine Cobble resulted in a tie (1-1), putting Pine Cobble and Derby against each other in the fourth and final game, the championship. Derby took home the tournament title with a 1-0 win over Pine Cobble.   The above release was submitted by Derby Academy.
