Duxbury Food and Wine Festival Starts Thursday!
The Duxbury Food and Wine Festival is a four day extravaganza of select wine labels, craft beer, gourmet food, and family fun.
Discover the discriminating and decadent flavors of Duxbury as local food and wine innovators brew the first annual Duxbury Food & Wine Festival. Celebrate our local bounty of farm fresh foods with talented chefs, foodies and connoisseurs. Explore a wide variety of carefully selected wines and craft beers from around the world during the four-day festival, Thursday, September 25th – Sunday, September 28th.
In its inaugural year, the Duxbury Food & Wine Festival consists of five distinct events over the course of four days beginning on Thursday evening with Duxbury’s twist on Oktoberfest. Three Saturday events include a Grand Tasting bringing wine enthusiasts together for education and enjoyment of over 100 vintages from five continents; a Duxbury Student Union Food For Thought afternoon family fair featuring beekeepers, goat farmers, local farmers market vendors and non-stop food themed activities for kids; and Saturday evening’s A Gala Evening on the Bay introducing guests to select vintners’ elite labels and food pairings created by The Catered Affair. The Festival concludes Sunday afternoon with the Snug Harbor Oyster Harvest with a festive, fall menu featuring the bounty of the season, including oysters prepared a variety of ways, complemented by inventive wine and cider pairings.

Thursday September 25th
The 2nd Annual ‘Duxbury Oktoberfest’, this year a part of the new ‘Duxbury Food & Wine Festival’, takes place again at the Duxbury Bay Maritime School in the picturesque ‘Clifford Hall’. The Oktoberfest event is a fitting kick-off event of the four-day festival offering casual appeal and enviable view from the DBMS. Beers from around the world supported by local distributors including L. Knife & Son; Fall Fest beers, October Seasonal beers, and Craft beers from over 50 brew masters around the world. Music, Oktoberfest foods with a Duxbury twist including Bratwurst, dumplings, Weiner Schnitzel, Strudel, Mustards, Pretzels, and more. Based on last year’s reviews, enthusiastic participants will make this 2nd annual event a must attend! Tickets are $28.00 in advance $35.00 at the door, if available. 6 PM to 9 PM at the Duxbury Bay Maritime School, 457 Washington St., Duxbury. Event benefits the Lions Club and its Duxbury Food Pantry.
Saturday, September 27th
‘Food for Thought’ - A Farm to Fork experience
From 12 to 4 PM at the Duxbury Student Union (DSU), the Food for Thought fair is a FREE community celebration for all ages with an outdoor farmers market offering seasonal fresh and organic food choices. Indoor and outdoor events will include Chef’s demonstration, cheese making, goat farming, beekeeping, ‘Fear Factor’ food demo, and more. Stop by or spend the entire afternoon. Enjoy lunch at one of our carefully selected Food Trucks specializing in fresh food selections from the South Shore. (Age 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult)

Experience ‘The Grand Tasting’ , designed for the ultimate wine enthusiast and the newly initiated, featuring over 100 wines from all major growing regions around the world. Mini-breakout sessions will feature presentations about specific regions. Saturday afternoon from 3 PM to 5 PM at the Ellison Center for the Arts, 64 St. George Street, Duxbury. Tickets are $25.00 in advance, $35.00 at the door, if available. Guests must be 21 years of age for admittance. Event benefits the Duxbury Food and Wine Festival’s DHS Culinary Student Scholarship Fund.
‘A Gala Evening on The Bay’ , the signature event of the festival, features a reception with live music, gourmet fare by The Catered Affair paired by choice vintners with their best labels, followed by an après party with music and a FarFars ice cream station on the lawn. Join us at the Duxbury Bay Maritime School (DBMS) for an evening of music, wine, great food and stunning views of the bay. From 6 PM to 10 PM. In addition to the wine selections, there will be a cash bar. Tickets are $90.00 per person, $110.00 at the door. Event benefits the Festival’s DHS Culinary Student Scholarship Fund.
Sunday September 28th:
The Snug Harbor Oyster Harvest- the 1803 Winsor House hosts the final hurrah of the Duxbury Food & Wine Festival. Weather allowing, the party will take place on the Winsor House’s patio and beautiful gardens. The menu showcases Duxbury oysters in fall dishes such as Oysters on the Half Shell with Cranberry Mignonette, Oyster Stew and Oysters Rockefeller. Guests also will enjoy a selection of flatbreads, cashew chicken chili and autumn bisque. Wine and cider will be served. From 3 PM to 6 PM. Tickets are $65 per person, $85 at the door (if available). A percentage of profits will benefit the Duxbury Student Union.
