EEE Found in Hingham, Town-Wide Spraying Tuesday Morning
An elderly Plymouth man was also recently diagnosed with West Nile Virus, the first case in Massachusetts this year.

State health officials announced Monday that they discovered Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus in a mosquito pool in Hingham and raised the town's threat level for EEE and West Nile Virus to moderate.
In response, the Plymouth County Mosquito Control Project will conduct a town-wide ground spray on Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 2 a.m. until 6 a.m.
"The Hingham Health Department is strongly advising Hingham residents to limit outdoor activities from dusk to dawn when the risk of being bitten by mosquitoes carrying the virus is the highest," the agency said in an alert issued Monday.
The town did not specify where the pool was found.
"Personal protection is always recommended," the alert continues. "Additional information and health advisories will be updated on our website @ www.hingham-ma.gov.
"Please contact the Hingham Board of Health 781-741-1466 with any questions."
State officials also reported Monday that a Plymouth County man in his 70s was the first person diagnosed in Massachusetts this year with the West Nile Virus.
