“According to the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation, there will be minimal job growth through 2013, which will impact state revenues, Davis said. "If we are to make progress in this sluggish economy, we must look to new ideas and new leaders. We cannot be content with career politicians who are more interested in serving themselves than the people they represent.”

Davis earned her bachelor’s degree from Manhattanville College and an MBA from Boston University. She is married to George Davis and they are the parents of two sons, Ian, a college graduate currently serving in the US Navy and Evan who is currently a college student.

She has served as an appointed member of the Norwell High School Parent Council and also served as one of the architects of a study that resolved overcrowding in elementary schools.

"If I am elected, I will not shrink from taking a stand on tough issues and I will never compromise the interests of the people in this district and the Commonwealth by acting in my own self-interest,” said Davis.

Davis has attended Hingham’s April Town Meeting and Fourth of July Parade, where she has interacted with Hingham voters.

May is the president of the Forum On Genetic Equity, an advocacy group for patient privacy rights.

“For too long, the people of the South Shore have been denied a seat at the table; whether discussing, local aid, transportation funding or education dollars the people of this district have been underserved," May said in a statement.  "When you compare Hedlund’s ability to deliver to members of the State Senate with similar seniority he falls well short.”

Previous to his work at the Forum, May has worked in a variety of capacities at the state level, having served as National Director of State Affairs for the Hemophilia Federation of America, a Political Action Committee (PAC) Director for the National Association of Social Workers, and a Legislative Fellow in the New York State Senate in the aftermath of the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center.

In addition to May’s past public policy experiences, he also is a clinical social worker having worked in community mental health and substance abuse.

May has a Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Vermont and a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Rhode Island.

Locally, May is a member of the Hull Transportation Committee, an alternate to the Hull Historic District Commission, Secretary of the Hull Democratic Town Committee, and Hull’s Representative to the South Shore Democratic Caucus.

In addition, May is a member of Office and Professional Employees International Union, Local 49, the Clinical Social Work Guild of America, the National Association of Social Workers and the American Society of Association Executives.

May has held where voters were welcomed to ask him questions and has been seen campaigning in Hingham Square and Hingham Commons.
