Alice sits on a riverbank, basking in the warm summer sun. She is drowsily reading over her sister’s shoulder, when suddenly a White Rabbit in a waistcoat scurries by. The White Rabbit pulls out a pocket watch, declares he's late and pops down a rabbit hole. Intrigued, Alice follows the White Rabbit down the rabbit hole, and so the adventure begins. South Shore Ballet Theatre's interpretation of the classic Lewis Carroll tale has something for everyone: a grinning Cheshire Cat, a crazy Mad Hatter, a confused March Hare, a chronically late White Rabbit, twins Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle Dum, a furious Red Queen and a huge cast of supporting characters including dormouse, caterpillar, trees, mushrooms, moving grass, sugar cubes, tea cups, flowers, hedgehogs and a whole pack of playing cards. If you have not seen Alice in Wonderland as a ballet you won't believe your eyes. Great fun for the entire family. SSBT's Spring Performing Group includes 55 local students from all over the South Shore. There will be two performances of Alice in Wonderland: Saturday, May 14th at 1pm and 6pm.
