Families Invited to Picnic Under the Lights at Hidden Pond
Families are invited Thursday night to spend the evening celebrating peace, hope and love.

Families are invited to picnic at at the celebration of Music and Lights on Thursday at Hidden Pond behind the Derby Street Shoppes.
Attendees will spend the evening celebrating peace, hope and love by decorating their own wish lantern while listening to music from Atlantic Symphony Orchestra. The event was scheduled for last Thursday but was postponed due to rain.

“It will be an enjoyable relaxing evening,” said Niamh O’Maille, marketing coordinator at Derby Street Shoppes.
O'Maille said families will have the chance to purchase a wish lantern for $10 and float it in the pond at dusk. The lanterns will be available for guests to decorate and express what is important in their lives. The proceeds will support the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra.

Families will also get a free concert from the Triton Quintet from the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra.
O'Maille said picnic dinners will be available at some of the Derby Street Shoppes restaurants and families can also bring their own. A sand sculpture created by Sean Fitzpatrick on Sunday will also be featured and children can have their wishes inscribed on a specially built sand wall that will last for the season.
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Hidden Pond is located on the service road behind Whole Foods Market, past the Bertucci’s Restaurant.
