Felony Charges for Hingham Man That Had Explosives
Benjamin Young will be charged in Hingham District Court.

A Hingham man who allegedly created explosives will be summoned to Hingham District Court on four felony charges.
The Hingham Police Department announced on Wednesday that Benjamin Young will be charged with three counts of possession of explosives/destructive devices and possession of component parts capable of creating a destructive or incendiary device.
On Monday, investigators were able to locate a small quantity of homemade explosives in Young’s home on Back River Road. Local residents were evacuated during the investigation but police say it does not appear the explosives were made to hurt anyone.

Police say the Hingham incident may have a connection to an explosion in Quincy. On Saturday night, Joseph Brennan 36, of Norwell was arrested after an explosion in his car allegedly caused him to crash his vehicle on Falls Boulevard in Quincy. While driving, Brennan lit a cigarette, which triggered materials he had in his vehicle. He was charged with possession of an infernal device according to NECN.
Young is due in court on May 20.
