Full Day Kindergarten Preliminary Registration
Hingham Full Day K Survey and Preliminary Registration
PRELIMINARY REGISTRATION FOR HPS KINDERGARTEN ENTRY IN 2015-2016
In order to continue with planning for a full day kindergarten program (including the development of a final sliding scale tuition schedule), the School Department is seeking information about (1) the number of potential kindergarten enrollees and (2) the number of families that would be eligible for some level of tuition relief. Toward that end, parents of kindergarten-eligible students (age 5, prior to September 1, 2015) are urged to complete a preliminary registration survey. This preliminary registration survey WILL NOT replace the typical enrollment process that will take place later this spring. As well the survey responses are non-binding.
Information about the survey, including a link to an electronic version of the survey (see below), can be found on the district website <hinghamschools.org>; look under Administration tab and then the Superintendent’s page. Parents are encouraged to review the sample tuition schedule there (it is similar to the state’s income-based sliding scale) prior to filling out the survey. This is only a proposed fee schedule at this point; actual numbers may change somewhat; therefore we understand that parents will make their best estimates of what tuition figure, if any, applies to them. No income documentation is asked for at this time. No income disclosure is needed at all from parents whose income makes them ineligible for tuition relief.
Paper copies of the survey and tuition chart are available at the Hingham Public Schools Central Office (220 Central Street - 3rd floor) and in each elementary school for parents who prefer to register that way. If paper copy is used, the survey should be returned directly to Central Office or in a sealed envelope to the local school.

Parents also are encouraged to share information with others who may not be aware of this important preliminary registration process. The more we know about how many students will attend kindergarten in Hingham next fall, the better we can plan for the program and ensure sufficient funding.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PROMPT RESPONSE!!
