Gomez will look to persuade voters, as Linden Ponds currently has more registered Democrats than Republicans. The visit could also sway the 500 registered independents at Linden Ponds in his direction.
As of August, the Hingham retirement community had 324 registered Democrats, 185 registered Republicans and 586 registered voters who are not affiliated with either party, according to Linden Ponds Political Interest Chairman Marty Saunders. The senior living community also has voting booths right on its campus and sees an 87 percent voter turnout from its residents.

In April’s Primary election, more Linden Ponds residents voted for Gomez’s upcoming opponent, Ed Markey. In that election, Precinct 5A at Linden Ponds voted Markey over Stephen Lynch, 276 to 126 and Gomez over Michael Sullivan, 106-56.
Dani G. Baldassare, Manager Public Affairs at Linden Ponds, said the retirement community is working to schedule a visit for Markey sometime next week.
Gomez will oppose Markey in the June 25 special senate election. The candidates are running to replace John Kerry who was appointed the nation's new secretary of state.
