Great Escape: Celebrity Chef Series at the Summer Shack

Jasper White invites Boston's Best Chefs to cook at his restaurant

Each week Hingham Patch will be bringing you an idea for you to enjoy some much needed time away from the kids. So, when the kids are having a sleepover at a friend’s house, off to sports practice or even if you need to get a babysitter for a couple hours, we will provide you with some ideas and information for down time. We know you need to escape every once in a while, too.

If you are looking for something fun to do this weekend without the kids then head on over to Summer Shack for the celebrity chef series. Chef and owner Jasper White has rounded up his friends, who are also some of the city’s best chefs, to present their very own four-course menu paired up with wine.

White, who is also a cookbook author, owns and operates Summer Shack restaurants in Hingham, Cambridge, Boston and at the Mohegan Sun casino in Connecticut. The restaurant brand has become well known for its wide array of seafood that includes everything from lobsters, clams, oysters, cod cakes and of course, his famously rich specialty pan roasted lobster with bourbon, chives, chervil, butter and wine.

On April 13 Jason Santos of Gargoyles on the Square, who also appeared on “Hell’s Kitchen,” will be visiting the Shack on April 13.

White and good friend Lydia Shire have been buddies for years so it was no wonder she would be participating on April 20.

Todd English is also slated to attend although a date has not yet been confirmed for his appearance. Ming Tsai of Blue Ginger and Jody Adams of Rialto participated earlier this month in the guest chef series and on March 30, Barbara Lynch was the guest chef. Lynch is a household name in Boston with restaurants to her credit like No. 9 Park, B&G Oysters, Sportello, Drink and her newest highly acclaimed venture, Menton.

Summer Shack received a 2001 James Beard Award nomination for Best New Restaurant. The restaurant itself offers a casual atmosphere that goes along with White’s believe that fine food does not have to be elegant.

Tickets are $75 per person (tax and gratuity not included). For more information, call (781) 740-9555 or visit the restaurant online at www.shackfoods.com.
