Hammond Hull Office to Exhibit Works by Hull Artists

Opening reception surrounding works by Brian Calhoun and Lory Newmyer will take place on Sunday, November 22 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

HULL, Mass. (October 27, 2015) – Jeff Forsythe, manager of Hammond Residential Real Estate’s Hull office located at 536 Nantasket Avenue, announced that the office will display artworks by Hull Artists members Brian Calhoun and Lory Newmyer. The exhibit will be on display from November 17, 2015 through May 29, 2016. An opening reception will take place on Sunday, November 22 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., at which time the artists will be present to discuss their works, which will be available for purchase. Additionally, Hammond’s Hingham office at 98 South Street continues a separate exhibit of works by Hull Artists through April 15, 2016.

Brian Calhoun has a joyful spirit that is reflected in his colorful acrylic paintings. Everywhere in his home, one’s eye is excited by the play of colors and patterns found in his unique artwork. He states, “I tend to paint a lot of very common or familiar subjects: fish and birds, for example. While the subjects themselves are not unique necessarily, I like to think that my interpretation and execution of them gives the viewer my singular perspective. Who doesn’t love a pink seagull or a fish with lips? Art should make you smile, and that is my ultimate goal.”

Lory Newmyer’s artwork speaks out in a myriad of colors and patterns in her fiber art pieces. Newmyer’s forte is a range of dyeing and paint processes that yields a unique component from which to start her pieces. She then incorporates a number of fiber art techniques like quilting, stitching, pleating, and lashing in the creation of her abstract work which fulfills an “urge to express what words cannot.”
