Heavy Winds Cause Power Outage in Hingham’s Crow Point

Wind knocked out power in Hingham for an hour on Friday night.

Heavy wind gusts caused a brief power outage in Hingham’s Crow Point on Friday night.

Paul Heanue, the General Manager of said areas of Crow Point lost power at around 11:30 p.m. Friday night, and power was restored within an hour.

Heanue said the power outage was caused when the heavy wind knocked down a tree branch that made contact with a circuit.

This weekend, wind gusts in Hingham reached as high as 58 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service, but Hingham Municipal Lighting Plant only received word of one other incident where a branch fell on wires.

Heanue said he was happy with how the weekend played out, considering the high wind speeds.
