Dharma Dreams Vocational Center

Dharma Dreams Vocational Center is a nonprofit vocational and life skills program based in Hanover, Massachusetts, serving young adults ages 18–26 with moderate cognitive disabilities. Our mission is to help students build practical job skills in the trades, confidence, independence, emotional regulation, and workplace readiness through hands-on vocational training and supportive learning experiences. The program was created in response to the growing need for meaningful transition opportunities for young adults as they move beyond high school and into adulthood. Many families struggle to find programs that combine practical workforce preparation, life skills development, communication skills, confidence-building, and supportive real-world learning experiences. Dharma Dreams offers hands-on exposure to vocational areas such as landscaping and grounds maintenance, painting and surface preparation, workplace professionalism, entrepreneurship basics, and life skills training. Students also learn mind-body techniques that support focus, confidence, emotional regulation, stress management, and workplace success. Our introductory summer program, launching at the end of July, is designed to help students and families become familiar with the program and explore vocational interests before participating in longer-term programming. Long-term programming focuses on helping students develop greater independence, workplace readiness, responsibility, confidence, and practical trade skills through structured, hands-on learning experiences. Dharma Dreams Vocational Center aims to create supportive pathways toward greater independence, meaningful employment opportunities, and a stronger sense of purpose while helping young adults feel valued, capable, and connected to their future potential.

Robert Hedlund was victorious once again on Election Day. The incumbent State Senator of the Plymouth Norfolk District  will now serve a tenth term in office after defeating Norwell Democrat opponent Genevieve Davis by 39 Percent, <a href="http://www.boston.com/news/special/politics/2012/general/mass-state-senate-plymouth-norfolk-election-results-2012.html" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">according to the Boston Globe.</a> Hedlund received  69 percent of the vote compared to the 31 percent received by Davis. Hedlund will serve as one of the few Republican State Senators in Massachusetts as he received votes from hundreds of Democrats across the Plymouth Norfolk County.  The State Senator said being a Republican is just an "R" attached to his name. "We hear all of this on class warfare... I'm someone who has lived here my whole life," Hedlund said.  "I've been on the same softball team in Hull.. I have a certain connection to the area." As of 10 p.m. Tuesday night, Hedlund took each town including Davis's hometown of Norwell.  In Hingham, the former HHS graduate received 68 percent of the vote compared to Davis who only received 26 percent. The Plymouth Norfolk District  includes Weymouth, Cohasset, Duxbury, Hingham, Hull, Marshfield, Norwell and Scituate.
