Hingham Book Signing with Award-Winning Author Stephen P. Kiernan

WHAT: NVNA and Hospice is pleased to host award-winning author Stephen P. Kiernan for a signing of his new book, The Hummingbird. The story follows an irascible aging historian under hospice care because of his incurable cancer; an Iraqi war veteran haunted by nightmares, anxiety and rage; and a seasoned hospice care worker. The place where their worlds connect is in the invisible arena of feelings, memories and relationships. Powerfully written and beautifully executed, The Hummingbird offers much to think about love, life and unexpected blessings.

THE AUTHOR: Stephen P. Kiernan is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop. During his twenty-plus years as a journalist, he has received accolades including winning the Joseph L. Brechner Freedom of Information Award, the Edward Willis Scripps Award for Distinguished Service to the First Amendment, and the George Polk Award. Kiernan is the author of The Curiosity, his first novel, and two nonfiction books, Authentic Patriotism and Last Rites: Rescuing the End of Life from the Medical System, the latter of which profoundly influenced The Hummingbird. He lives in Vermont with his two sons.
