Hingham Citizen's Police Academy Enrolling Now

The class is tentatively scheduled to start Sept. 18.

Hingham residents, business owners and employees 18 years and older can sign up now for the 46th Citizen's Police Academy, starting tentatively Sept. 18.

The 10-week course is each Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the police station. A Saturday or other weeknight classes may also be included 

It includes recruit training, patrol procedures, the DARE program/drug presentation, crime prevention, use of force/METRO-LEC, motor vehicle law, OUI presentation and domestic violence.


There will also be a tour of the Plymouth County Jail, a "Mock Trial" at Hingham District Court, a Crime Scene Investigation, a K9 Demonstration and a vehicle extrication by the Hingham Fire Department. All students will be offered a ride-along with a Hingham Police Officer.
