Hingham residents, business owners and employees 18 years and older can sign up now for the 46th Citizen's Police Academy, starting tentatively Sept. 18. The 10-week course is each Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the police station. A Saturday or other weeknight classes may also be included  It includes recruit training, patrol procedures, the DARE program/drug presentation, crime prevention, use of force/METRO-LEC, motor vehicle law, OUI presentation and domestic violence. There will also be a tour of the Plymouth County Jail, a "Mock Trial" at Hingham District Court, a Crime Scene Investigation, a K9 Demonstration and a vehicle extrication by the Hingham Fire Department. All students will be offered a ride-along with a Hingham Police Officer. If interested, stop by the Hingham Police Department and pick up an application.
