The Harbormen trailed by 10 at the half, but their defense did not allow a single in point in the second half and their offense exploded, leading them to victory.

The Hingham High School Football team scored 12 unanswered points to beat the Scituate Sailors 29-27 in the annual Thanksgiving Day game on Thursday morning.

The Harbormen jumped out to an early 7-0 lead, as Hingham Senior Captain and running back Kevin McCarthy rushed for a touchdown on the Harbormen's opening drive.

Neither defense could make any stops in the first half though, as the Sailors quickly tied up the game 7-7, and went on to recover two on-side kicks and took a 27-17 lead at halftime.

Hingham Head Coach Paul Killinger credited the team's explosive offense with the victory as the team only punted once in the entire football game.

"Offensively we moved the ball the whole game," he said.  "The kids played a great game."

Hingham senior quarterback Reed McLeod was named the MVP of the game.  Reed threw one touchdown pass  while leading the Harbormen to victory.

"Our offense played well," McLeod said. "They couldn't really stop us.  It was the best game."

Hingham now leads the turkey bowl series 11-7. This year's win was the closest game in the series' 18 year history.
