Just 6 weeks ago, the Girl Scout council stopped funding the Hingham Girl Scout House and transferred all responsibilities to the local Hingham Girl Scouts. We are reaching out to the community for support to help keep the house open and to preserve it for generations to come.
Critical Projects
Our most urgent concern is the roof, estimated at $17,000, which must be replaced for the safety of the girls and to protect the building. The town will not renew our occupancy certificate with the house in it's current condition, and without the occupancy certificate the house can not be used. We need to act swiftly.
We also have a long list of necessary improvements totaling $100,000 to keep the building from further damage including gutters and downspouts, French drains, painting, flashing, glazing, doors, and a retaining wall.
Year End Appeal Goal
Please consider making a contribution today. The need is truly urgent. Our immediate goal is $20,000 by year end. If you are able to contribute more it will help us to stabilize the building without an interruption in use.

About the Hingham Girl Scout House
In 1930, the first Girl Scout House in New England was built in Hingham by local residents. Today, it continues to provide a safe and central location for scouts, providing girls a place of their own to build the courage, confidence, and character to make this community a better place.
Approximately 40 meetings and events happen at the Girl Scout House each month, supporting 400 girls and other organizations in Hingham.
