Hingham Habormaster Welcomes Community to Touch a Boat

Hingham kids will get the chance to climb on boats, learn boating safety and watch a knot tying demonstration at the second annual "Touch A Boat" event.

Families are welcome to come down to the Hingham Harbor this Memorial Day Weekend.

The Friends of Hingham Harbor will hold their second annual "Touch A Boat" event at Hingham Harbor on Saturday, May 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Children can get on deck and climb aboard Hingham’s Harbormaster boats and those from other state agencies.

Hingham Harbormaster Ken Corson will be there to kick off the summer season by educating the community about boating safety,  the US Coast Guard Auxiliary will offer lifejacket fittings and EMS will be there to showcase the latest water gear and offer Stand-up Paddle Board demonstrations.

 “What better way to teach kids about boating safety than at a fun event like this? They will learn by participating in all the activities,” Corson said.

Kids will also have the chance to watch a knot tying demonstrations, and enjoy face painting, bubbles, and a highly anticipated Pirate Treasure Hunt by new partner Mama’s Move. 

Touch A Boat will be held at Iron Horse Park at Hingham Harbor. Free parking is available at the Boat Ramp parking lot, as well as at the town lot on Station Street.
