Hingham High School Sports Wrap-Up
A look at how the hockey and basketball teams are doing in Hingham.
The Harborwomen Hockey Team recently hosted the Annual Alumni Game at Pilgrim Arena. The game took place on December 23, and the alumni consisted of former players from 2007 to 2011.
For the first time since their D2 State Championship victory, members of the Harborwomen team of 2008 were back on the ice together. These players, many of whom have continued their hockey careers in college, played like the champions they were, defeating the current Harborwomen team 3-2.
Returning Harborwomen were Class of 2007 Brittany Nestor, Class of 2008 Meg Findley; Class of 2009 Bailey Millerd, Steph Invernizzi, Steph Schlosky, and Laura Levin; Class of 2010 Chrissie Bowler, Jesse Clifton, Ally Dillon, and Katie Hildreth, and Class of 2011 members of the D1 State Championship Team, Catherine Chittick, Victoria Gong, Jesse Ryder, and Goalie Beth Findley. Harborwomen coach Tom Findley, alias Santa Claus, officiated the game.

The Hingham Boys' Basketball team won their opener 64-59, on Dec. 19 at home against Whitman-Hanson. The score stayed close the entire game and was tied 31-31 at the half. Hingham's defense held strong down the stretch to secure the win. Senior forward Graham King had 17 points, and took 3 charges. King’s classmates and captain Kevin Blair scored 10 points and had 8 steals playing the point for the Harbormen. Captain Nick Passios contributed 11 points and junior center Eddie Bowler had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

In the Randolph Holiday tournament, Hingham lost its first game of the season to Randolph in the opening game, 56-51. After a good start, the Harbormen shooting went cold, and despite a tough effort, fell to the Blue Devils. In the consolation game on 12/30, Hingham breezed by Cape Cod Tech 79-42. Hingham returned to its game of passing, taking care of the ball and shooting well to take a 4 win 1 loss record into 2012. Next up, a tough North Quincy squad away on Friday.
The Harbormen are currently 4-1 on the season. They have beat Plymouth North 67-47, and Milton 69-66.

The Hingham girls basketball team won their season opener against Rockland 55-44. The Harborwmen were lead by senior forward Maggie McGonagle who had a tripe double with 10 points, 17 rebounds and an amazing 10 blocks. She also added 1 steal and 2 assists. Senior Co-captain Katharine Alger had 15 points and Junior Danielle Hickey added 8 points off the bench.
