Hingham Library Needs Donations To Light Up Clemens Gallery

A generous Hingham resident offered to pay half the cost, now the Library is seeking donations to pay the other half.

The Hingham Library is looking for donations from the community so they can improve the lighting at the Clemens Gallery.

According to Hingham Library Director Dennis R. Corcoran, a generous Hingham resident  has offered to pay for half the cost of the installation for new lights. Cocoran said the offer stands until April and he needs the community’s help to pay the other half which will cost $1,700.

Corcoran also said another Hingham resident with a lighting design background has donated his services to design a plan.

“This can get done but not without the help of those of us  who care about the arts,” Corcoran said in an email newsletter to library users. “The time to bring the Clemens Gallery out of the shadows is now.”

The Clemens Art Gallery is on the right side of the library’s main entrance. It holds a new art exhibit each month of the year.
