Hingham Library Very Close to Lighting Up Art Gallery
The Hingham Library needs to collect $200 in donations to pay for new lights at the Clemens Gallery.

only needs to collect $200 more to pay for new lights at their Clemens Art Gallery and Library Director Dennis Corcoran is optomistic the money will be collected by the end of the month.
The library started collecting donations after a generous Hingham resident had offered to pay half the cost ($1,700) of the lights and installation if the library could come up with the other half by April.
Since the beginning of the month, Corcoran said the Library has collected $1,500 in donations from local residents, artists, and Library Board Members

"It's an issue that has been on our minds for years," Corcoran said.
The Library Director said that new lights have been in the plans for the Clemens Gallery since it was created several years ago, but they could never raise enough money.

“This can get done but not without the help of those of us who care about the arts,” Corcoran said in an email newsletter to library users last month. “The time to bring the Clemens Gallery out of the shadows is now.”
In addition to donations, one Hingham resident with a lighting design background has donated his services to design a plan for the installation.
The Clemens Art Gallery is on the right side of the library’s main entrance. It holds a new art exhibit each month of the year, and is reserved for each month through 2013 by artists looking to showoff their work.
