Hingham Looking to Secede Plymouth County
Hingham may do away with county government.

The Town of Hingham is investigating whether they should leave the Plymouth County.
Carl Harris of the Plymouth County Charter Commission said there is not many benefits of Hingham being part of the county, as they must pay $111,408 this year to be a member of the county government, according to Boston.com.
The county government oversees the Registry of Deeds, maintains county property, such as the region’s courts. A limited and shrinking 4-H program and small fire spotter airplane are also under the county’s care.
