Hingham Middle School Assistant Principal Derek Smith has been appointed the school's new principal. Smith will replace Roger Boddie, who is retiring after this school year. School Superintendent Dr. Drorothy Galo announced the new appointment at Monday's School Committee meeting. "In addition to his leadership and curriculum knowledge, he brings prior experiences as a building principal and assistant principal in another district," Galo said in a written statement. David Jewett was also named Director of Mathematics  on Monday.  Jewett will succeed Doug Holley. "These two gentlemen ( Smith and Jewett) will represent all of us well in their new roles, do what's best for kids and to facilitate learning, and carry on with the tradition of strong leadership that characterizes their predecessors," Galo said.
