Hingham NHL Star Says He Hates The Boston Bruins
New York Rangers Center Brian Boyle, a Hingham native, said he loves the Red Sox and Patriots but hates the Bruins. Last night in Boston, Boyle helped the Rangers defeat the Bruins, 3-0.

New York Rangers Center Brian Boyle, who was born and raised in Hingham, said he hates the Boston Bruins.
After helping the Rangers defeat the Bruins last night by a score of 3-0 in Boston, Boyle said it made him angry to watch his home town team win the Stanley Cup last June, Comcast Sports reported.
“I’m a big Red Sox and Patriots fan, but I hate the Bruins. I hate them with a passion,” Boyle told Comcast Sports. “That’s how it’s supposed to be, I think, and that’s how it’s been for a while. Last year they won and it’s congratulations to them, but it really made me upset. I was pretty angry about it.”

The 27-year-old Hingham native also told Comcast Sports that he hopes the New York/Boston rivalry intensifies because it will be good for the sport of hockey.
“I had a lot of aunts, uncles and cousins or whatever that were all excited [about the Stanley Cup], but I’m in a different situation…In baseball it’s always talked about on ESPN and in football with what’s happened lately, a [Boston/New York] rivalry can only help the game,” Boyle said to Comcast Sports.

Despite his comments last night, Boyle said he grew up idolizing former Bruin great and current Bruins president Cam Neely, in an interview posted earlier this year on Youtube.
Boyle will get his wish if Boston meets New York in the NHL playoffs, as there will likely be a noticeable hatred between the two teams’ fan bases. New York and Boston currently hold the two best records in the NHL’s Eastern Conference. The Rangers are in first place with 79 points followed by the Bruins with 70 points.
The son of Judy and Artie Boyle of Hingham, Brian grew up in an enormous Irish-Catholic family with 12 siblings. Boyle attended high school at St. Sebastian's School in Needham and played college hockey at BC. During this past Christmas, the Boyle family was featured on the HBO reality series, “24/7,” at their home in Hingham. The series was filmed right before the Rangers laced up for the annual NHL Winter Classic.
