Hingham Pianist to be Featured in South Shore Conservatory's October Concert

South Shore Conservatory starts a new season of its Conservatory Concert Series this month in Hingham.

Hingham's Mark Goodman will be a featured pianist in South Shore Conservatory's concert Piano Bash with Strings Attached on Sunday, October 23.

The concert will be in Hingham at 4 p.m. and will be the first concert in this season's Conservatory Concert Series (CCS).This special concert is free to the public, but donations are welcome.

Piano Bash with Strings Attached showcases the talents of Piano Department Chair Mark Goodman of Hingham, String Department Chair Violist Phil Rush of Jamaica Plain, pianists John Kramer of Jamaica Plain, Eric Lane of Boston, I-Hang Lin of Weymouth and HuiMin Wang of Norwell, and violinists MaeLynn Arnold of Boston and Jenna Potts of Arlington, cellist Adele Carter of Hingham and bassist Chris Rathbun of Kingston. “The pairing of piano and strings has produced some of the most intimate, heartfelt and exciting compositions of the chamber music repertoire,” says Goodman.  “We’re thrilled to be able to share some of this music which we love.”

The program includes Milhaud’s Quatre Visages for viola and piano, excerpts from Beethoven’s Sonata for Cello and Piano in C Major, and Sonata for Violin and Piano in A Major, Mendelssohn Trio No. 1 in D Minor, plus a special duo for jazz piano and string bass. 

“We are looking forward to sharing an evening of great music with our friends and colleagues,” says Phil Rush.  “We hope everyone brings a friend.” Following the performance, the audience is invited to a reception to meet the performers and have a bite to eat.  Beer and wine are available for purchase.
