Hingham Police Officer Charged With Stealing From Town
A 34-year Hingham Police veteran resigned after being charged with stealing gasoline from the town.
A Hingham police officer resigned after being charged with stealing gasoline from the town, the Department announced Monday.
Thomas Cadigan, a 34-year veteran officer was charged with nine counts of larceny totaling $471.23, Chief Michael Peraino said in a statement. The thefts occurred in December and January. In addition to resigning, Cadigan repaid the town the full amount.
Cadigan was arraigned in Wareham District Court earlier Monday on nine counts of larceny under $250, Peraino confirmed.

Cadigan admitted to sufficient facts to be found guilty on the charges. The judge continued the case without a finding and placed Cadigan on probation for six months.
Cadigan was charged after the completion of an internal investigation by the Hingham Police Department.
