Hingham Residents Asked to Show Patriotism To Support 4th of July Parade

For a donation of $50, residents will receive 50 American flags on their front lawn.

Hingham residents are being asked to show off their patriotism to raise money for the upcoming Fourth of July Parade.

Residents can support the parade by participating in the Fourth of July committee’s new “50 Flags” campaign.

“For a donation of $50, we will place 50 American flags on your lawn for several days,” committee chair Jim Murphy said.

So far residents on Cushing Avenue and Hersey Street have already participated.

Keith Jermyn, Veterans’ Services Director for the Town of Hingham said he fully supports the 50 flag display on Hingham lawns, as it will have “a larger than life impact and a greater message of patriotism.”

When the committee removes the flags, they will leave one flag on your lawn as a reverent sign of your support for the United States, our servicemen and women stationed around the world and this years’ Parade, Murphy said.

This years’ parade will be held Thursday, July 4. The parade is paid for by 100 percent of donations.
