The 3rd Annual Hingham Education Foundation Spelling Bee will take place on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013 at Hingham Middle School. The event is open to all Hingham students in second through fifth grade to compete within their grade level in hives (teams) of three. The date change came about after last year's event, originally scheduled for February, was postponed until March due to winter storm Nemo. HEF hopes the new time of year will allow for students who may have missed out due to conflicts to participate. Event Chair, Dana Donnelly, explains further, "The busy ski season and winter sports kept some students interested in the Bee from competing. We chose the new date partially because it falls between sports seasons." Online registration will open in late September. Look for details to be sent home through the elementary schools soon. All proceeds benefit the Hingham Education Foundation and its grant program, which provides funds to all six schools in the Hingham Public School system.
