By Jeffrey St. Mary
The Hingham Squirt B2 Red hockey team came away with the South Shore Conference Championship trophy this past weekend by beating Westwood by a score of 5-1.
Hingham took the lead early in the first period and was able to maintain pressure by capitalizing on scoring opportunities, playing aggressive defense and shutting down the opposing offense with an amazing show put on by Hingham’s goal tender.
The Hingham B2 Reds had a tough road to the Championship as they were pitted against top-seeded Braintree in the semi-finals but came away with a stunning victory in a hard-fought game hosted in Falmouth.
Head Coach Pete Farley said the team’s ultimate success was the result of the hard work and extra effort put forth by all of the boys late in the season.
Coach Farley thanked his assistant coaches Bill Crean, Joe Keohan and Jeff St. Mary, as well as all of the parents for their unwavering commitment throughout the long season.
Hingham team members include: Joe Bianchi, Declan Condon, Charlie Crean, Seamus Doyle, PJ Farley, Sam Fox, Ethan Gates, Henry Keohan, Ian James McCarron, Jack Norton, William Schiffman, Luc St. Mary, Trent St. Mary, Gavin Schwandt, Grey Thomas, Brendan Webb.
