Hingham's Got Talent: Local Dogs Showcase Their Skills [PHOTOS]
Doggy Talent Show is big on Canine Appeal.
Like most of the South Shore, Hingham is very dog friendly.
On any given day, dog-owners can be seen walking their pooches through the streets or exercising them at locations such as Stodders Neck and Bare Cove Park. Dogs seem to be an essential Hingham accessory and on Saturday, proud owners were given the chance to highlight the hidden talents of their canine chums at the annual Doggy Talent Show.
Kim Sylvester, owner of on Main Street, has organized a Doggy Talent Show for four years and this year 11 dogs were put through their paces on the lawn outside

Under the careful scrutiny of Sylvester and Terry Haskins a local trainer known as The Dog Butler, the dogs demonstrated a wide range of skills that included rolling over, speaking, fetching objects, balancing biscuits on noses and high fiving their human handlers.
The event was meant to be fun for both dog and owner, with contestants given five dollars to spend in Maggie’s Dog House after the event. For Sylvester, it is a chance to thank her loyal canine clientele.

“It’s one of the ways to give back to my customers, a free event and I’m just grateful to all my customers,” Sylvester said.
Sylvester opened the store five years ago and named it after her own dog who had sadly just passed away.
The store specializes in gourmet hand-made dog treats with the focus being on all-natural holistic food with no by-products or chemicals. It offers a large section of puppy-friendly biscuits in different shapes and sizes and, while it is independently owned and operated, carries many of the products that can be found at larger chain stores.
