Interested School Committee Candidates Invited to Meet With Members

The Hingham School Committee is inviting all residents to an informal “Coffee and Conversation” event on Jan. 22 for potential School Committee candidates for the upcoming Town Election.

Members of the current School Committee will be present at the event to answer any questions about their own experiences and to discuss the role and duties of a School Committee member.  The current members will go into detail about the typical time commitments and expectations, and will address pending school issues.  Print information about the role and responsibilities of a School Committee member in Massachusetts will also be available at the meeting.

The meeting will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. in the on the third floor of the Town Hall.

Potential candidates can run for School Committee seats at the Town Election which will be held the first Saturday in May.

The Hingham School Committee currently holds seven seats.  The current members are Linda Hill, Caryl Falvey, Raymond Estes, Barbara Cook, Carol Falvey, Edward Schreier  and Andy Shafter.
