With the wish to explore the limitless possibilities of the instrument they love, the cello, The Boston Cello Quartet performs a wide repertoire ranging from classical music to jazz, tango, contemporary works and even comic medleys. Some pieces are written originally for cello quartet, and others are arrangements written by cellists mostly over the last century. Cellist Dejardin adds new arrangements that he has written to the repertoire frequently.
This is the first time in the history of the Boston Symphony Orchestra that such a cello ensemble is formed. The group has enjoyed considerable success and their debut concert at Tanglewood in July 2010 was described by The Berkshire Eagle as “The best Prelude Concert at Ozawa Hall since the hall was built”.
