The James Library Presents In an Instant: an Instagram Art Show
Artistic creativity meets historic character in Norwell

The James Library & Center for the Arts blends inventive creativity with the historic character of its beloved arts center when it presents In an Instant: Instagram Art Show, featuring images from the region’s amateur and professional photographers via Instagram, the latest photographic art form. In an Instant, an innovative exhibit and art sale, premieres at an opening party on Friday, November 7, from 7 to 9 pm, at The James Library & Center for the Arts, 24 West Street, Norwell. The event is generously sponsored by Norwell-based Hub International New England insurance brokers and consultants.
In a first of-its-kind event for the James’ Art Gallery, In an Instant: Instagram Art Show opening party takes artist’s cloud-based images offline and adds the third dimension of exhibition. Art Gallery Director Lisa Flynn, who originated the idea for the show, installs the works of art through creative mountings to showcase each photograph, some submitted as a multiple image series. All three floors of the James feature mounted images submitted from artists of all ages from across the South Shore, along with a visual projection show, adding to the creative mood of the surroundings. Opening party guests can mingle throughout the exhibit artfully lit by mood lighting, enjoy light bites, a cash bar and live music - a complete night out on the town! All art on display may be purchased and taken home the same night. Each 6” x 6” mounted image is available for $45, a portion of the proceeds directly benefits The James Library’s historic preservation fund.
The exhibit highlights exclusive 10” x 10” featured works created by professional South Shore photographers, including Ed Nute, Wes Ennis, aerial photographer and pilot Margo Cheel, Kim and Richard Alemian, Stephen Haley, and Stephen Eames. These larger pieces are available for purchase for $75.
