The Kerry Jon Walker Fund Presents Benefit Concert

Renowned BC High Choir to perform in Cohasset

The Kerry Jon Walker Fund (KJWF), a non-profit organization dedicated to helping humanity and supporting those affected by poverty, presents BC High Choir Benefit Concert, on Saturday, March 14, 5 pm at St. Stephen’s Church, 16 Highland Avenue, Cohasset. All proceeds benefit KJWF’s mission to improve the quality of life of those suffering from poverty by promoting sustainable programs to improve health, education and economic opportunity for those in need.

The Boston College (BC) High School Choir performs music of all periods, from Renaissance to contemporary, with an emphasis on learning to express and respond to different musical styles. Nationally, the Choir has performed at the Trapp Family Lodge in Vermont, in Washington, DC at the White House and the National Cathedral, in San Francisco with the University of San Francisco choir, at Boston’s Symphony Hall, and in a debut series solo performance at New York City’s famed Carnegie Hall. International tours include concerts in Prague, Czech Republic, Russia, Ireland, and at The Vatican in Rome.

BC High School Choir Director Dr. Marina Rozenberg has a long and successful history leading choral groups throughout Russia and the European Union, taking 1st and 2nd place prizes in international choir competitions in Russia and Paris. Enhancing the education of youth is at the heart of The Kerry Jon Walker Fund’s mission. Most recently, KJWF provided 3000 lbs. of books, maps and educational materials to village schools in Guinea, West Africa, a community that ranks amongst the poorest in the world. KJWF also purchased school uniforms for Guinea’s most deprived children. By bringing literacy and educational necessities to children across the world, KJWF provides them with hope to aspire to a better future for themselves and their communities.

In collaboration with Boston’s Snowden International High School, KJWF provides opportunities for financially challenged urban teen students to travel abroad in charitable service. Most recently, KJWF sponsored five Snowden graduates to travel to Rwanda, serving victims of the country’s genocide at the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village, home and school for 500 orphaned teens. While providing service to the students in this Rwandan community, the Boston teens gained a new understanding of third world issues through the homeless families they served. They bonded with friends across the world who had once lived alone or in child led households, and who survived daily conditions that lacked clean water, electricity and reliable food sources.
