Legal Sea Foods Coming to Hingham, Summer Shack Moves Out
The popular seafood chain restaurant will open their second location on the South Shore.
Legal Sea Foods is moving into the space which was formerly the Summer Shack at the Derby Street Shoppes.
The popular seafood chain restaurant will open their second location South of Boston after Summer Shack chef Jasper White announced that he is terminating his 10-year lease on Derby Street, the Boston Business Journal reported.
White is closing the Summer Shack, just two years after he opened in Hingham. He will continue to operate restaurants in Back Bay, Cambridge, Dedham and Mohegan Sun

White told the Boston Business Journal that the decision to leave Hingham is not a bankruptcy but rather a business decision.
“All our staff will find employment with us,” he told the Boston Business Journal. “It’s a very clean deal.”

Legal Sea Food has another South Shore location at the South Shore Plaza. They currently have 18 locations in Massachusetts, 10 of them which are located in Boston.
This is the second seafood restaurant that announced an opening in Hingham. Just a few months ago, the Union Fish Seafood & Raw Bar announced they will open at the Hingham Shipyard in the Spring.
Legal Seafoods will joing Burton’s Grill and the Rustic Kitchen as the only sit-down restaurants at the Derby Street Shoppes. The outdoor shopping mall also offers fast food chains: Panera Bread, Chipotle and B.Good.
