Hingham High School Yearbooks Are Now Online
Almost every Hingham High School Yearbook from 1933- 2012 is now on-line and able to be viewed for free.
Hingham High School graduates can now relive their glory days thanks to the Hingham Public Library.
The Hingham Library has posted every single Hingham High School yearbook from 1933-2012 online, with the exceptions a few missing books: 1964, 1967, and 1973.
Reference Librarian Anne Dalton said the library just received 73’s yearbook and will have digitized in the next few weeks. She encourages anyone who has a yearbook from 64’ and 67’ to come forward so they can be digitized. The original print would then be returned to the owner.

Hingham graduates who have lost their yearbooks can now show their kids, family and friends the pictures from their high school days with a few clicks on the mouse. The online versions include every single page from the baby pictures, to senior quotes to the class superlatives and photos of students, athletic teams and teachers.
One reason the library decided to post the books online is because they currently do not allow users to checkout yearbooks, as they can only be viewed inside the reference area by having a library card or photo ID.

“Yearbooks are our most frequent requests,” Dalton said. “It just made sense to digitize them.”
Along with posting the yearbooks online, the library also digitized their postcard collection and an old slide collection, with the help of the Boston Public Library.
The BPL recently received a grant to collect historic materials and were able to digitize the yearbooks, postcards and slides for the Hingham Library, Dalton said.
“They came and got them and returned them,” Dalton said. “It was a smooth operation and they were very cooperative.”
