“I am frustrated with the MBTA’s proposal, especially the elimination of the commuter boat subsidy… What I cannot understand is why we would first create the commuter line- which abjectly affected a better, cheaper, and already existing means of public transportation to the tune of $513 million taxpayer dollars- then eliminate the subsidy that supported the most cost effective alternative," Hedlund said about the proposals earlier this month.

Chamber president Peter Forman has even to Davis  explaining that dropping ferry service “would severely undermine a regional development strategy pattern on the South Shore…”

Any proposed changes to the MBTA’s rate and service structure will not go into effect until July 1.

Local residents can also address the MBTA at a public town meeting at the Hingham Town Hall on Feb 8 at 6 p.m.

Davis is scheduled to travel to Hull after his visit to Hingham next week.
