New Hingham Skate Park Popular for Bladers of all Ages

New Hingham Skate Park is popular among skaters.

Skaters of all ages have been enjoying the new Hingham Skate Park near Carlson Fields and Bare Cove Park.

The park fills up everyday after school, with people of all ages who enjoy skate boarding and rollerblading.

Shane Mckenna, 14, and Brett Cullen, 15 came all the way from Quincy to use the Park. The two Quincy residents had a half day from school and decide to travel to Hingham to skate because they heard many good things about the new skating area.

“The bowl is real smooth, said McKenna.  “It’s real nice.”

 The skate park was built last Fall and according to town reports, was budgeted at $175,000.

Patrick Preston, 33,  grew up in Hingham and said he skates at the new park five times a week. He said it’s the best skating park in the area.

“The Town of Hingham did an excellent job building this,” Preston said.

The park does have several rules. Skaters are asked to wear helmets at all times and skating is not allowed after dark or when the surface is wet. The park is also for skating although many bikers continue to use it.
