Numbers Show Hingham Trains Have Been Running On-time
Greenbush Line ends 2011 with best performance since 2009.
The Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad posted its best single-month of performance since June of 2009 in December 2011 with an on time percentage of 92.8percent.
Hingham’s Greenbush Line is part of the MBCR and for the month of December the trains that run through Hingham were 98.2 percent on time. According to Andrea Wheeler, a MBCR representative the on-time trend is continuing into this year and thus far in January it has been 94.4 percent on time.
According to MBCR General Manager Hugh J. Kiley Jr., the improvements resulted from a renewed spirit of collaboration with the MBTA, a new senior management team at MBCR, and significant investments into service improvement initiatives.

According to the MBCR, the train service has reached their expected goal six of the past eight years, including the past three years. The company reported a 96 percent or better performance seven months during 2011.
MBCR and the MBTA attribute the success to the renewed partnership between the two organizations in 2011 and MBCR’s new senior management team. The intense focus of the new management resulted in hiring 25 new conductors and 13 new engineers and the purchase of over $500,000 worth of equipment for winter weather months.
