Deputy Chief Glenn Olsson will become Hingham's tenth police chief on May 1.The selectmen voted to appoint Olsson to the position 3-0 during their meeting on Thursday night.In addition to the selectmen's vote, Olsson received the endorsement of retiring Chief Michael Peraino.Olsson beat out three other candidates for the position: Lt. Sean Cavanaugh, Lt. David Jones, and Lt. John Norkaitis.The decision only took minutes with minimal discussion and no debate.
