Party Goers in Hingham Could Face Felony Charges
If identified, individuals who allegedly tossed beer bottles at an officer responding to a party over the weekend could face heavy charges if they are identified, according to reports.
Felony charges could be brought against several of the individuals found at an underage drinking party in Hingham over the holiday weekend.
Specifically, individuals who allegedly threw a glass beer bottle at an officer responding to the scene of the party on East Street Saturday night could face felony charges if identified, according to a Boston Herald report Wednesday morning.
“It’s going to take a witness to come forward,” Sgt. Steven Dearth told the Herald. “We’re urging someone to say what they saw or admit what they did.”

An officer who arrived at the East Street house party at 11:52 p.m. Saturday was almost struck by a glass beer bottle when he stepped out of his car, according to Hingham Police. The bottle missed him and shattered on the pavement at his feet beside his cruiser. A second bottle then almost struck his hood and shattered on the pavement at his front bumper.
As a result of police response to the party, 16 individuals between the ages of 17-20 were arrested for underage drinking, and a 21-year-old was arrested for disturbing the peace. Others escaped by running through the woods.

The homeowner, William Hacking, 51, is facing a criminal complaint at Hingham District Court for violating the Social Host Law. If found guilty, he could face up to one year in prison or up to a $2,000 fine or both, Hingham Police Sgt. Steven Dearth said.
