Book Signing at Barnes & Noble allows residents the chance to meet and greet.

Governor Deval Patrick signed copies of his book, "A Reason To Believe; Lessons From An Improbable Life" at the at the Derby Street Shoppes on Saturday.

Casually dressed and relaxed, the governor spent over an hour in the store autographing copies of the book and taking the time to talk to residents of not just Hingham but Hull, Cohasset and Scituate, all of whom were very pleased at the chance to shake the Governor's hand and to receive a personalised message.

It wasn't just local residents who took the opportunity to meet the Governor. Selectmen Laura Burns and Bruce Rabbufo and School Committee member Raymond Estes took the opportunity to gain some insight from the Governor, by  seeing what goes on behind the scenes when a major project such as the Middle School is contemplated at State level.

Policy discussions aside, Governor Patrick was there to promote the book which he admitted had taken fifteen years of persuasion from his agent and friend, Todd Schuster, before it was ready to hit the shelves.

"It's a set of lessons that I have learned from very ordinary people that have contributed to why I am the idealist I am," said Governor Patrick. "I have come to see idealism and optimism as a strength. I am just trying to pass some of those lessons on."
