PHOTOS: Labor Day in Hingham; A Time To Relax
Hingham residents make the most of the unofficial last day of summer, Labor Day.
Some spent it on the beach or at the shopping mall, others on their skateboards or enjoying an alfresco lunch in the sun but for most of Hingham, Labor Day was a chance to relax in the company of family and friends.
Retailers at Derby Street Shoppes were extremely busy. The nice weather had filled the outdoor mall with shoppers, all looking for the last bargains of the summer with restaurants also doing good business for a Monday afternoon.
At Bare Cove, the skate park had a steady stream of boarders and rollerbladers enjoying the September sunshine.

At Hingham Bathing Beach, the sun-worshippers had staked out their spots in the early afternoon, content to lie on the sand as others made full use of the water. Hingham Harbor was a popular spot to spend time and the number of beach chairs and coolers on display were evidence of residents making the most of this scenic location.
Hingham Shipyard was also a popular destination, with the Beer Works and Alma Nove serving lunches on the terrace while parents celebrated the last day of the school holidays by taking their children to the cinema.
