Weymouth Man Charged with Distributing Marijuana
Anthony G. Kalayjian, 20, of 23 Overlook Road, Weymouth was arraigned in Hingham District Court on a charge of possession to distrbute a Class D drug. The case was continued to Feb. 6. Kalayjian was released on personal recognizance. The charge stems from a Oct. 14 incident in Hingham at 9:19 p.m. when police responded to a report of suspicious activity in a parking lot on Beals Cove Road. Police observed two vehicles, and during a search they allegedly found inside one of the vehicles five small baggies containing marijuana and packaging designed for sale and distribution of the drug, police said in the incident report.

Mark G. Anderson, 34, of 9 Tara Drive, South Weymouth had charges of second-offense driving while under the influence of alcohol, negligent driving, and a marked lanes violation continued to Jan. 18 for a jury trial in Hingham District Court. The charges stem from a May 21, 2011 incident in Hingham at 12:13 a.m. when police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Chief Justice Cushing Highway. Police said Anderson allegedly told them that he was driving on Route 3A toward Weymouth when another vehicle approached his head-on, and that he swerved to avoid a collision. The vehicle he was driving then crashed into the woods. Police at the accident scene said they found an empty bottle of Smirnoff vodka, according to the incident report.
Rockland Woman Pleads Guilty to Shoplifting

Janis E. Burns, 34, of 518 North Ave., Rockland was pleaded guilty in Hingham District Court shoplifting over $100 by asportation and was fined $150. The charge stemmed from a Oct. 12 incident in Hingham at Kohl's Department Store, 100 Derby St., where police responded to a report of a shoplifter. Police said Burns was observed placing $249 worth of jewelry, perfume and clothing in a bag and then walked out of the store without paying, according to the police report.
