Police Log: Hingham Man Busted for Second OUI, Derby St. Store Broken Into

The following excerpts are from the Hingham police log from June 27-28. The arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, June 27:

At 8:06 am.  a security at the Derby Street Shoppes reported someone broke into the sports apparel store, Roster.  The caller reported the window was smashed and the store was entered.

At 2:04 p.m. police arrested Nicholas Webster, 33, of 19 Planters Field Lane, Hingham for drug possession.  The arrest was made on Planters Field Lane after a caller reported a suspicious vehicle driving around in circles.

At 8:48 p.m. steam from cooking caused the fire alarm to sound at the Gourmet Garden restaurant on Whiting Street

Friday, June 28:

At 6:50 p.m. a caller reported tools were stolen from a construction site on HMS Stayner Drive.

At 7:17 p.m. a caller reported stolen mail from a mailbox on Powers Lane.

At 8:42 p.m. police arrested a 25-year-old Scituate man for driving with suspended license on Otis Street.

At 10:17 p.m. police arrested Jay Contin, 45, of 64 Canterbury Street, Hingham for operating under the influence of alcohol for a second time.  Police found an open container in Contin’s vehicle.  The arrest was made at the intersection of Main Street and Merrymount Road.
