Police Log: Overcooked Baked Potato Causes Smokey House, Customer Causes Disturbance

The following excerpt is from the Hingham police log from March 1-3. The arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

Friday, March 1:

At 4:48 p.m. police arrested a 36-year-old Fall River man at the corner of North and Ship Streets for driving with a suspended license.

At 8:55 p.m. a caller on Martins Lane reported hearing gunshots.

Saturday, March 2:

At 6:54 p.m. a caller on Martins Lane reported a sinking boat in Martins Cove.

At 11:01  a.m. a caller reported a his car tire was vanadlized on South Street near the Loring Studio.

At 7:39 p.m. a caller at Stars on Hingham Harbor reported a man in a red golf shirt was causing a disturbance.

Sunday, March 3:

At 10:03 a.m. a caller reported smoke coming from a home on Planters Field Lane after a resident left a baked potato in the microwave for too long.

At 1:44 p.m. a caller reported a hit and run accident at the Fresh Market parking lot at the Hingham Shipyard.  The caller stated the driver may have thrown a beer bottle into a trash bin. He was later found and arrested.  SEE STORY.

At 2:04 p.m. a caller reported a head-on collision  near the D’Angelo’s Sandwich Shop on Whiting Street.

At 3:49 p.m. a shoplifter was reported at American Eagle Outfitters at the Derby Street Shoppes.

At 7:09 p.m. a caller reported a resident was backing out of his East Street driveway when he was struck by a car.  The accident was minor.

At 10:03 p.m. police arrested Sean O’Brien, 23 of Dedham for operating under the influence of alcohol at the intersection of Blaisdell Road and Main Street. The arrest was his second offense.  He was also charged with drug possession.
