Police Log: Wandering Raccoon, Damaged Deer and Driver Arrests

Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013
At 1:49 p.m. a caller reported a brush fire about 300 feet from their Knoll Road home. Responding public safety personnel determined it was an unattended fire pit and extinguished the fire.
At 7:12 p.m, Hingham police stopped a motor vehicle at 300 North St. and arrested Cathy Rideout, 49 of Hingham, for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked or suspended registration and having an uninsured vehicle.
At 7:17 p.m., Joshua Hurwitz, 28 of Weymouth, was arrested during a motor vehicle stop at Penniman Hill Farm for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

At 1:48 a.m., a motor vehicle stop at 196 Summer St. led to the arrest of Michael Salafia, 59 of Hingham, for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, subsequent offense.
At 1:32 p.m., a caller at Main Street Market and Deli reported a raccoon wandering, confused toward Queen Anne's Corner. The Animal Control Officer took the raccoon to the Wildlife Center.
A motorist with a child in the car hit a deer at Hazelwood Drive and Whiting Street at 8:06 p.m., damaging the vehicle. The deer, which the Animal Control Officer reported would need to be put down, ran into the woods.
