Preventing Skin Cancer, One Child At A Time

Children's Melanoma Prevention Foundation Event Raises $15,000 For Skin Cancer Awareness Education

The Children’s Melanoma Prevention Foundation recently partnered with The Medical Spa at South Shore Skin Center in Norwell to raise $15,000 benefiting the Foundation.

Shown at the event are (above, left to right): Sean Boucher, Vice President, Commercial Banking, Eastern Bank, Foundation Sponsor; Maryellen Maguire-Eisen, RN, MSN, Foundation Executive Director; Dr. Richard Eisen, South Shore Skin Center partner; and Erin Presutti, Foundation Administrative Assistant.

To raise as much money as possible for the Foundation, The Medical Spa staff and estheticians donated their time to perform skin care services for guests. Vendors donated the products used in the various treatments. Therefore, all fees for skin care services directly benefited the Foundation.

The Children’s Melanoma Prevention Foundation is a non-profit, educational foundation established by Hingham resident Maryellen Maguire-Eisen in 2003 to deliver a comprehensive, kid-friendly, sun safety and melanoma awareness program, free of charge, to children and their caregivers. Their motto is “preventing skin cancer, one child at a time.” Each year, more than 50,000 students actively participate in presentations and projects provided by trained Foundation staff members at local schools, sailing clubs, day care centers and health clubs.
