Randolph Man Arrested on Upskirtng Charges by Hingham Police

Police say a man was arrested for allegedly taking photos of females at the Derby Street Shoppes.

A Randolph man faces charges under the state’s upskirtng law after police say he attempted to take a photo of a female without her knowledge.

Terrell Anthony Skerrette, 28, of 10 Bartlett Road Rear, Randolph, MA, was charged with unlawful sexual surveillance/photographing, accosting/annoying a person of the opposite sex, and disorderly conduct.

Friday afternoon, Hingham police received a report of a man who was acting suspiciously at the Kohl’s at the Derby Street Shoppes. Store staff said the man was following female customers around the store and taking photos of them with his phone. While watching the man on surveillance video, police observed him following a woman into the shoe section before taking a photo of the woman’s buttocks several times when she bent over to look at a display.

After witnessing the incident, police asked Skerrette for his phone, which he said he did not have. Skereette was also asked if he was familiar with the state’s upskirtng law, which he said he did not believe it applied to simple photography while denying that he took photos. Skereette was arrested after a phone was covered in the women’s clothing

Skerrette was released Friday evening on personal recognizance by the Clerk Magistrate. He will be arraigned Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Hingham District Court. Detectives are seeking a search warrant for the contents of the phone.
